Today we practiced the presentations for tomorrow and I thought they went well. Almost done.

Today I worked with Grant from 2 to 4 inorder to finish my power point

Tuesday, August 17, 2010

I meet with Grant for the first time in a month and showed him everything I did. I found the inclination of light and not of the disk so I have to change that, but everything else was fine.

Friday I went around the symposium looking at all the posters and supporting others in my lab that were speaking.

Today I made a histogram for the a4/a and ellipticity data. Then I went on a field trip to the eastman house. It was cool to learn about how pictures were made with mercury.
I worked on the histogram program again today with no luck, and i updated my wiki.

Yesterday I worked on making a histogram. The histogram wasn't showing up on the graph so I have to figure out why today.

Friday, August 6, 2010

Today I worked on creating a program to make a histogram of my a4/a data and another program to graph the a4/a vs inclination and ellipticity vs inclination. The graphs for the a4/a vs inclination and the ellipticity vs the inclination were both linear, which shows that as inclination increases so do a4/a and ellipticity. This proves our theory correct because face-on discs should have a higher a4/a value which makes there isophotes disky and they have a greater inclination then edge-on discs. I'm having problems getting the histogram to plot the array but I printed the array and the numbers are there. So I don't know why the program isn't plotting the array.
Yesterday I figured out a way to change the array size without specifying the size of the array. We made an equation to determine the array size. So I finished the program unless anything else needs to change.

Yesterday I started to make a program that can solve for a4/a, the semi minor axis of a dusty disc, calculate the inclination, and then graph the a4/a data vs the inclination. The problem is that I'm running multiple galaxies in the program, and they have different size arrays. So I need to find a way for the program the pick the right size array without having to tell it the specific size of each array.

Yesterday, I spent all day on a program to create published images of galaxies. I have been working on this program for some time and finally got it working.

Today I found all the redshifts for my images on NED and then calculated the Kpcs using the redshift. Then I worked a the program that to crop my pictures and kept running into errors. Tomorrow I'll have to figure out how to fix the problems.
On Friday I finished all of the graphs of a4/a vs SMA for all of my images. And then received more from Grant.
